Jallim Eudovic

Based on a 2006 interview. View some of Jallim’s past work.

AchieveA bit of a prodigy, Jallim Eudovic began carving at the age of five. Not very surprising, though, considering his father is the Lucian wood-working legend, Vincent Joseph Eudovic.

Today, he and his father run the thriving Eudovic Art Studio in Goodlands, St. Lucia. This is a time-consuming effort, says Jallim, he however still makes time to write (both poetry & prose), and draws fanatically.

“Drawing is a natural part of carving,” he says that sculpting is, “essentially the manipulation of the way the textures hit the eye, and in drawing you’re trying to achieve the same.”

Over the course of his career, Jallim has earned many awards & honours for his artwork. In 2001, he took part in Carifiesta (Suriname). He has won the M&C Fine Art Awards in 1998, 2001 & 2003. In 2005, he took the gold medal at the new CDF (Cultural Development Foundation) Awards. He also, in 2000 & 2004, was chosen to represent St. Lucian sculpture in the Francophonie Games. He is meant to again participate in the 2005 Games in Africa.
