Name: Renu BoodoosinghMelting Treasure - Still 04

Date of Birth: 01-12-83

What is your favourite colour?
Blues and greens…lol

Favourite artist(s)… local or otherwise?
I have many favourites, I love the brilliant colours of Claude Monet (from the Impressionist Period), the delicate control of Georgia O’Keefe, but that’s for painting, I also admire the work of Tim Burton, his brilliance and imagination goes beyond any other of his kind for me, you look at Vincent, Beeltejuice, Nightmare before Christmas, all beautifully done, he is amazing

In a nutshell, what do you do?… what medium… and how would you describe your genre?…
I can draw, paint, sculpt, and more recently I am getting in the hand of stop-motion animation. I am not tied down to one style I enjoy working in new areas all the time

How did you first get an interest in art?
Oh probably in chemistry class where I would always draw in my lab book and get my teacher vex… but I always had this love to draw but not enough confidence in myself to go ahead with it

Where/How did you learn?
By just doing and then finally taking it seriously and signing up to UWI

A brief history of your career…
Career is in the process of one but my education background,

2006-2009 University of the West Indies, St. Augustine
Bachelor’s of Arts in Visual Arts (to be completed)
2004-2006 University of the West Indies, St. Augustine
Certificate in Visual Arts
Awarded a Distinction

What are some of your current art projects, personal or otherwise?
I am working on another animation focusing on Global Dimming

What are some of your upcoming projects, personal or otherwise?
Well on the 3rd of July I’ll be exhibiting, together with some other colleagues, at the Centre of Language Learning in UWI

Oh…and also to get a job… I need one so bad

Hobbies?… What do you do for kicks?
Hobbies…hmmm…I’m doing it

What’s your favourite food?
Cheese and bread, cheese and potatoes, cheese and broccoli…I like cheese

If you could be any animal, what animal would you be and why?
I would like to be a lynx. They are such beautiful creatures. They aren’t like any other big cats, they have this mystical and almost eerie presents about themselves that is so fascinating.

Okay and finally… what are your long term career/life ambitions?
To have my on gallery, to have a place in the animation world, to have a shelter for stray animals

Many thanks… anything else you’d like to add?
I am an animal lover and do not like to see any animal suffering. I have five dogs, four of which are strays. I would like to one day have a home for stray animals. It is very wrong to see another suffer but worst yet to see another who can not in no way help themselves. Stray dogs are not a natural occurring thing, we put them there and it is only right to help
