  1. Name: Kitwana Julius

  2. Date of Birth: 5th April 1982

  3. What is your favourite colour?

    White

  4. Favourite artist(s)... local or otherwise?

I don't really have a favourite artist. However, what inspired me to get into cartooning was those classic Walt Disney cartoons.

  5. In a nutshell, what do you do?... what medium... and how would you describe your genre?...

I am a concept artist and cartoonist by heart. I love using CGI to present my ideas and breathe life into my creations. I dipped my hand in Graphic Design, 3d architecture, Product Design, Character design, Game Art Design and Animation.

  6. How did you first get an interest in art?

It all started when I was 10 years old. This was where I created my first comic strip and my first original characters "Tom and Tim". Even though they were stick figures my readers were gripped by their story. They wanted more and pretty soon I was creating 20 page comic books within a week.

  7. Where/How did you learn?

I am entirely self-taught in 3d. However, I get tons of support from family, friends and the 3d online community. I learn a little more everyday.

  8. A brief history of your career...

My first job was teaching Visual Arts at a local high school. I did this for about 4 years. Then I later got into an advertising company as a Graphic Designer. Now I am an Art Director. After working hours, I always find myself back on the computer working on my own personal 3d projects.

  9. What are some of your current art projects, personal or otherwise?

My main project now for the New Year is making several short animations to practice the art of animation and screenwriting.

  10. What are some of your upcoming projects, personal or otherwise?

I have a huge project where I will try to recreate a section of one of the towns in St. Kitts for the main setting of one of my characters.

  11. Hobbies?... What do you do for kicks?

I like playing video games. I also use them as a good source of inspiration and research material. I love listening to classical and techno music especially while I work.

  12. What's your favourite food?

    I love Baby Back Ribs

  13. If you could be any animal, what animal would you be and why?

It has to be a cat. I love their agility and ability to purrrrr.

  14. Okay and finally... what are your long term career/life ambitions?

My goal is to create 3d work of my own design to display in film, commercials or video games. Or work at Pixar. Which ever comes first.

  15. Many thanks... anything else you'd like to add?

Feel free to contact me. I am always happy to meet other artists and help beginners get their feet wet in 3d. Plus, I am always looking for inspiration and a new way of looking at life.
